Custom Shou Sugi Ban Wooden Drawers

A family member asked for a set of drawers that could double as a TV stand. The rest of his furniture was dark wood, so we used the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban wood burning technique on pine to make it match.

Shou Sugi Ban Technique

Here’s me using the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique on the drawers. This technique is often used for surfaces exposed to the elements. It is a chemical-free method of treating wood to protect from moisture. I like it on furniture because it gives it a rustic, reclaimed look, but in a modern, sleek way.
